Research on etiology and treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome, CFS ME

Key message

The Norwegian Research Council asked The Norwegian Institute for Public Health to conduct a systematic search to identify reviews on the aetiology of and effects of treatment for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome CFS/ME.

Method

We conducted a systematic literature search in medical databases. The search was completed in June 2016. Two researchers independently screened references according to the inclusion criteria and relevant references were then sorted according to subject.

Results

The search identified 768 unique references and eleven were included for treatment and 15 for aetiology. In addition, three clinical guidelines and 16 ongoing reviews were identified.
